The water has facilitated the successful establishment of a demonstration farm at Ilkilorit. The demonstration farm has full access to all the Maasai pastoral community and is where they learn how to grow crops such as kales, tomatoes, onions, fruit crops such as: bananas, pawpaw, watermelon and other drought resistant crops.

The crop growing in these sites has been a very hand supplement to livestock keeping and providing food security in the area that has become prone to unprecedented long and recurrent droughts; which have resulted in the massive loss of livestock, the basic source of livelihood for the pastoralist Maasai. The well fenced and paddocked 20 acre farm has been used as an emerged model across the Maasai community.

Provision of agricultural extension services to farmers with the collaboration of the ministry of agriculture.

MIDI has introduced improved breeds of cattle and Galla goats which have already sired bucks to their community. Improved animal breeds enhance the productivity of the livestock further boosting food security in the region. MID has managed to procure 50 heifers and 10 bulls that are used for cross breeding purposes with the aim of galla bucks for upgrading the local goats. Currently, we are doing a restocking program for the pastoralits who have been severely affected by the drought.

We have also been involved in the provision of over 5,000 to about 1,000 community members over a period of two years.

MIDI has already sunk a borehole at Ilkilorit, which is now benefiting about 1,200 people and 10,000 heads of cattle, goats, sheep and several other species of wildlife.

We have also constructed two water pans at Nendorko and Enkusero sampu villages.

Both water pans benefit approximately 2,400 households, 5,000 livestock each and a large number of wildlife.

The organisation has also built two sand dams, which are now benefiting 2,000 people, and provides water matching funds to the needy communities.
